WANTED: Contract Web Developer

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

We are currently looking for a contracted web designer/developer to join our team. This person will be utilized on an as-needed basis depending on the workload currently available. This is NOT an employment position, but rather a job for an INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

-Meetings with the management and/or clients during the quoting phase may be required

-Design, development, and testing of web pages and/or applications as dictated by a requirements document

-Answer questions in person and on the phone

 -Accurately quoting costs and timeframes to management

 -Must keep accurate records of work done and track of work progress toward quoted completion

 REQUIREMENTS:

 -Must be at least 18 years of age

 -Must be able to pass a complete criminal background check including fingerprint analysis

 -Must be willing to sign limited non-compete and/or non-disclosure agreements

 -Excellent Customer Service Skills

 -Excellent written and oral communication skills

 -Excellent grammar and experience writing and speaking using technical language

 -Must be fluent in the English language

 -Ability to work unsupervised for periods of time

 -Must properly comment code!

 -Must maintain a high level of integrity at all times. This includes properly citing code references, ensuring the proper purchase of stock or other photos, and staying away from ANY form of content plagiarism.

 -Proven Ability to Multi-Task

 -Ability to efficiently manage time

 -Ability to work with other development team members OR solo depending on project needs

 -Ability to change course of action when a project dictates such changes

 -Must keep client data confidential at all times and follow all procedures related to disposal/destruction of client information/records left in our care

 -Must be willing to keep client information, code, images, page data, databases, etc. on our servers at all times

 -Must be willing to develop on our servers

 -Must represent the company in a highly professional manner at all times

 Ideal Candidates Will:

 -Have a willingness to keep up with the latest web technology trends

 -Be goal oriented individuals who will constantly undergo continuing education

 -Be open to the possibility of assisting with new process creation and tweaking/testing current processes

 Technical Skills:

 -Experience with LAMP development (in pre-configured web server environments)

 -High level experience with BOTH ASP and PHP code

 -Mastery of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and XML

 -Advanced DB skills as related to MySQL and other popular database formats

 -Ability to design pages for cross-platform and cross-browser compatibility

 -Advanced photo editing skills for the web (e.g. Photoshop)

 -Advanced Adobe Flash skills

 -SEO experience as related to proper tag creation, labeling, and page formatting standards

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 -W3C Class participation and/or certifications

 -Previous experience in a fast paced development environment

 -Previous experience providing development services to business clients

 -Previous design/development experience in a team environment

 -Previous contract work successfully completed

 -In-Depth SEO experience that will keep our web marketing team from having to redo code

 -Professional content writing experience specific to the web

 -Some application programming experience and a solid foundational programming background

PAY:

 Pay depends on the amounts contracted on a per job basis and will be paid according to contract terms and conditions. Skills also play a major role in determining contract rate. However, the average hourly contracted rate can be expected to be between $15-45 per hour.

The Process:

1. 1) We Review Resumes and applications.
2. 2) Selected applicants will have a quick phone interview.
3. 3) Applications that qualify will be invited to take a skills assessment.
4. 4) Applicants that pass will be invited to come to an in-person interview and live skills assessment.
5. 5) The position will be offered on a per-contract basis, with the ability to work on more projects as time and relationship with Xcentech progresses.
